ICMP’s technical assistance program is a global resource available to governments, and others engaged in addressing the issue of persons missing as a result of armed conflict, natural disasters, human rights violations, organized violence and other causes.
ICMP’s technical assistance is primarily supported by three interrelated mechanisms:
- A Standing Capacity to conduct high-throughput DNA identificationsthat provides the ability to assist in identifying missing persons through DNA testing and kinship matching;
- A forensic Archaeology and Anthropological Division (AAD) with expert capabilities in the location, recovery and examination of human remains; and
- A custom-designed Forensic Database Management System (fDMS) which is suitable for ICMP’s own requirements and which is also provided to governments.
