Africa

ICMP has helped to resolve missing persons cases arising from political violence in Kenya and South Africa, whereas in Cameroon and Namibia, ICMP’s forensic expertise has been applied in the identification of victims following aviation accidents that killed large numbers of passengers and crew.

Namibia

On 29 November 2013 Mozambique Airlines Flight 470 crashed in a remote region of Namibia, with the loss of 33 passengers and crew. As part of its cooperation with INTERPOL, ICMP provided assistance to the Namibian authorities through anthropological examination, DNA sampling and advising the process of identifying the victims.
